According to architect, professor and researcher Antonio Pedro Alves de Carvalho. The first standards were inspired by a 23-page book named <em>Padr\u00f5es M\u00ednimos Hospitais<\/em>, published by the Brazilian Special Service for Public Health \u2013 SESP, and edited by architects Roberto Nadalutti and Oscar Valdetaro, who worked at the institution at the time. The publishing of such a book indicates that architecture was already deemed important for improving healthcare institutions. Carvalho wrote an article for &nbsp;that examines the subject in depth.<\/p>\r\n<p>Currently, many institutions in Brazil are responsible for editing and publishing the standards in effect, among which:<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/saude\/pt-br\"><strong>Ministry of Health \u2013 MS<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/anvisa\/pt-br\"><strong>Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency \u2013 ANVISA<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.cfm.org.br\/\"><strong>Federal Council of Medicine \u2013 CFM<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abnt.org.br\/\"><strong>National Standardization Forum \u2013 ABNT<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>These four institutions are responsible for the ordinances, resolutions and standards that all the Brazilian territory must comply with.<\/p>\r\n<p>In Brazil, there are also state and municipal standards, besides the federal ones, that must be referred to whenever applicable, depending on the location of the project.<\/p>\r\n<p>Please, check the main resolutions (ANVISA), ordinances (MS and CFM) and technical standards (ABNT) regarding EAS projects and buildings:<\/p>\r\n<p>Technical Committee Resolutions \u2013 RDCs<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3851323\/RDC_06_2012_.pdf\/6dfe8d91-f2e8-4885-8a8f-c9e91c61d31e\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 06\/12<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the good operational practices for facilities that process healthcare clothing.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3745767\/RDC_06_2013_.pdf\/31da1930-d682-4b19-9dfd-d5f2486ec4ae\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 06\/13<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the requirements of good operating practices for endoscopy services with access to the body through exclusively natural orifices.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3231546\/RDC_07_2010_COMP.pdf\/02825e21-aa2b-41bb-b1cd-fc6ce6c3b0a7\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 07\/10<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the minimum requirements for the operation of intensive care unities.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2867923\/%284%29RDC_11_2014_COMP.pdf\/bea0fc13-a2d9-42d0-892b-60e0390c16e3\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 11\/14<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on requirements of good practices for the operation of dialysis services.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3578403\/RDC_13_2014_.pdf\/b23f5325-47a9-4d18-bd8e-3ac1e76f3a4d\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 13\/14<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on healthcare services intended to mass events of national interest.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3851431\/RDC_15_2012_.pdf\/e08bf584-0ea3-47da-a053-648a1c87f45d\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 15\/12<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on requirements of good practices for processing health products.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_20_2006_.pdf\/6fbccc55-b950-4d5f-ad30-1b2e8d598980\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 20\/06<\/strong><\/a>, which establishes the technical regulation for the operation of radiotherapy services, aiming at protecting the health of patients, healthcare professionals and everyone involved.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3973185\/RDC_26_2012_.pdf\/9063c036-04bc-4d64-91ab-24b08b6dd11e\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 26\/12<\/strong><\/a>, which changes Resolution RDC n\u00ba. 07, from February 24, 2010, which rules on the minimum requirements for the operation of intensive care units.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/33880\/2568070\/rdc0029_30_06_2011.pdf\/37ab1571-d930-4a26-a62a-3f7687349d5b\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 29\/11<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the sanitation safety requirements for the operation of institutions that receive people with disorders related to the use, abuse or dependency on psychoactive substances.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2867975\/%282%29RDC_34_2014_COMP.pdf\/140dc780-ac2e-4829-8e2a-6fbc680677dc\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 34\/14<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the good practices for the blood cycle.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2871504\/%282%29RDC_36_2013_COMP.pdf\/1e2ee808-d1c4-4666-a3b4-58cadd11e6dc\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 36\/13<\/strong><\/a>, which establishes actions for the safety of patients in healthcare services.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2867923\/RDC_36_2014_.pdf\/7caee0e0-3b1b-4691-8e4b-44ec4ceda052\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 36\/14<\/strong><\/a>, which changes Resolution RDC n\u00b0 11, from March 13, 2014, which rules on the requirements of good practices for the operation of dialysis services.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_38_2008_COMP.pdf\/37838b9b-0b5e-4872-9b59-ef77ea502935\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 38\/08<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the establishment and operation of <em>in-vivo<\/em> nuclear medical services.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_42_2010_.pdf\/9080b696-f63e-4d9d-a5ca-7dad05474ca4\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 42\/10<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the obligation that every healthcare service of Brazil must provide alcoholic preparation for hand scrubbing.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/%282%29RDC_44_2009_COMP.pdf\/a14d0d1b-dea0-4f94-86c3-4183824659e7\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 44\/09<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the good pharmaceutical practices of sanitation control regarding operation, medication dispensing, products commercialization and services at pharmacies.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_48_2000_COMP.pdf\/287c9dc7-d77c-4774-ae5a-fb8af02ea0ce\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 48\/00<\/strong><\/a>, which approves the Inspection Guideline for the Hospital Infection Control Program.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/%283%29RDC_50_2002_COMP.pdf\/14cba30a-6a4b-40f9-b671-908afa3a93b2\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 50\/02<\/strong><\/a>, which approves the technical regulation aimed at the planning, scheduling, development, assessment and approval of physical projects of healthcare facilities, which must be followed in all the Brazilian territory, both in public and private institutions.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2954239\/RDC_51_2011_COMP.pdf\/e0720f17-70fc-4eb8-b89f-acc025bdf661\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 51\/11<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the minimum requirements for the analysis, assessment and approval of the physical projects for healthcare facilities within the Health Regulatory National System (SNVS).<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/3637614\/RDC_52_2014_.pdf\/ca9f2f97-a99a-4e77-8ed0-302f19faa714\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 52\/14<\/strong><\/a>, which changes Resolution RDC n\u00ba 216, from September 15, which rules on the technical regulation of good practices regarding food services.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/%281%29RDC_60_2009_COMP.pdf\/5371c45a-96df-4cba-8d18-4cb3e5d82bd8\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 60\/09<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the production, dispensing and control of medicine free samples.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_61_2009_.pdf\/37ef8335-a9ab-491b-8763-4b88165620ff\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 61\/09<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the operation of histocompatibility and immunogenetics laboratories that carry out transplant-driven activities.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_63_2011_.pdf\/3838d288-34e4-4e9a-9650-fe4089078185\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 63\/11<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the requirements for healthcare service good practices.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_67_2007_COMP.pdf\/5de28862-e018-4287-892e-a2add589ac26\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 67\/07<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the good practices for pharmacies to manufacture magistral and officinal preparations for human use.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_149_2001_COMP.pdf\/4874ef0d-7546-4197-8e04-e9a291418d50\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 149\/01<\/strong><\/a>, which requires that public and private institutions, as well as philanthropic entities, that carry out hemotherapy activities must submit to the State and Municipal Health Regulatory Agencies the form of Hemotherapy Production Information System \u2013 HEMOPROD.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/%282%29RDC_151_2001_.pdf\/d7ce2b5f-845f-4c6c-ba63-239a7080d585\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 151\/01<\/strong><\/a>, which approves the technical regulation on the complexity levels of hemotherapy services.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/antigo.anvisa.gov.br\/documents\/10181\/2718376\/RDC_216_2004_COMP.pdf\/66f5716e-596c-4b9d-b759-72ce49e34da0\"><strong>RDC N\u00ba 216\/04<\/strong><\/a>, which rules on the technical
