You may access our collection online at http://acervo.iph.org.br/ With the purpose of sharing knowledge, boosting studies, and improving techniques in the areas of architecture, health, building industry, hospital architecture, and humanized healthcare facilities, we make available to the public the IPH Collection, which is comprised of our archive and library. The archive is comprised of institutional and personal funds, as well as a collection: IPH Fund, Sociedade Urbanizadora Fund, Architect Jarbas Karman Fund, and Architect Irineu Breitman Collection. Therefore, IPH Collection portraits a part of the history of hospital architecture in Brazil, from 1954 until nowadays. The Architect Jarbas Karman Fund includes designs, architecture drawings, research reports, mails, project reports, studies, articles, among other documents that enable a full understanding of how Karman used to work, as well as his academic, professional and personal relationships. Our collection also includes the private library of the architect – which he used as theoretical basis for his works – and part of the collection that belonged to the extinct College of Hospital Administration, besides new acquisitions. Nowadays, the bibliographic collection gives support to the Institute’s researchers in the form of a specialized library focused on architecture and hospital management. It holds a collection of journals, books, leaflets, catalogues and academic work. The library also offers access to a database of theses and dissertations, gathering academic works from different Brazilian institutions that work with architecture, hospital administration and engineering, public health, and similar areas. The reproduction of documents from our collection must be previously authorized.
