Summary: Unimed System's Own Resources Movement: Results and Challenges in the search for Cheaper Costs and Better Aid Quality Rodolfo P. Machado de Araujo
The lecture "Unimed System's Own Resources Movement: Results and Challenges in the search for Cheaper Costs and Better Aid Quality" shows the current panorama of Unimed cooperative in Brazil. Considering its increasing market share, the Unimed system has been working on the verticalization of its management process. It is a challenge that means to assure resource generation for the cooperative, cost reductions, quality and commitment with ongoing improvement. The main issues that arise are: the adjustment to different and singular realities and the proper size of resources, preserving the autonomy of each part, strengthening the brand and gathering value to the hospital. The future holds the need for each part within the system to stand out by quality, looking for standards compatible with the best hospitals of nowadays and outperforming them, also assuring compatible cost and quality and developing institutional planning in the medium and long run.
