The lecture "The role of information technology and communication to increase efficiency and improve the quality of information in hospitals" showed how Hospital Sírio-Libanês has designed and established the efficiency project in the nursing department. The first issue to consider is the organizational identity and its main dimensions. Then, they draw a map of the institution including the work of the financial Department as strategic, grasping the concepts of productivity and efficiency. After diagnosing the focus of inefficiency and some drawbacks that prevent the optimization of productivity and efficiency, an efficiency project in the nursing department was developed. One of the key issues is how to choose the partner that will assess the possibilities of improvement in nursing following a thorough analysis of its services and unities. After choosing the partner, they successfully executed the pilot project, which had a return on investment of seven times the investment.
