Efficiency (2) Geraldo Amaral Jr.
The efficiency lecture aims to demonstrate how the best practices used in the industry can be translated and adapted to be used with excellent results in the hospital, in order to reduce waste and improve organizational and operational efficiency.

The presentation shows the evolution of quality improvement principles, since the beginning of the First Industrial Revolution to the recognition of the Toyota Production System as philosophy and practice used for waste reduction, efficiency improvement and organizational excellence.

The translation of this philosophy and practices into the hospital area and successful examples of organizations that benefit from this cultural change, testify that the Lean Methodology can and should be used in health care to reduce waste, improve efficiency and keep on the search for excellence.
