From the 1st Hospital Planning Course, promoted by the IAB — Institute of Architects of Brazil — under the auspices of the University of São Paulo and organized by the Hospital Planning Committee, formed by architects Amador Cintra do Prado, Jarbas Karman, and Rino Levi, the need was identified to create an organization dedicated to developing knowledge in the fields of Hospital Architecture and Planning. Thus emerged the idea of creating the INPDH — National Institute for Hospital Research and Development — now known as IPH.
